As many of you know, Alvin High School golf coach Ray Garza was in a tragic traffic accident April 17 on 1462 in Alvin. He was Life-Flighted to Memorial Hermann hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Coach Garza is a long-time friend of Alvin Golf & Country Club and a favorite of all the high school students and teachers. We are all praying for his speedy recovery.

To help Coach Garza and his family, AGCC is teaming up with Alvin High School to raise funds for his medical bills. If you can donate to this fund, please either send a check payable to Alvin High School (write Ray Garza Fund in the memo) to our address at

Come on out for the one-player scramble Saturday April 26 at Alvin Golf & Country Club.

Tee off any time between 8:00 - 12:00. The format is an 18-hole scramble with one-player teams. Each player shoots twice and chooses the best shot. There are three flights with cash awards for every four players in each flight.

$25 for AGCC members, $40 for guests, and $5 for cart.

Alvin Golf & Country Club is performing greens aerification on Monday, April 21. The course will be closed during this process.

AGCC aerates or "punches holes" in the greens twice a year to aid in drainage and encourage healthy Bermudagrass roots. ...more
