About Us
Alvin Golf & Country Club is a family-owned public golf course owned and operated by Patrick & Karen Farrell, who purchased the golf course on February 12, 2004. From 1946, when Karen's grandparents Art & Ethelind Schacht were founding members, until the time of the purchase, the club was owned by 50 stock members and run by a board of directors. Karen & Patrick were stock members at the time of the purchase, after buying her grandparents' stock certificate from her father at the time of their passing.
Alvin Golf & Country Club is a down-home golf course, "where everyone knows your name." Our greens are second to none, and the service can't be beat. We are known as The Friendliest Course in Texas!®
Karen Schacht Farrell

Karen Farrell
Owner
Karen Farrell was born a native Alvinite, and is directly descended from one of the original settling families of the Alvin-Manvel area (the Booths). Her grandparents, Art & Ethelind Schacht were founding members of AGCC and one of the three original purchasers of the land on which the club sits.
When not running the club, she works in her website design business, Farrell Documentation, which designed, developed, and maintains this website. Her favorite things about working at the club are being her own boss, making people happy, and keeping the tradition alive.
Pat Farrell

Pat Farrell
Owner
Pat Farrell was born in Buffalo, NY but got to Texas as fast as he could. In New York he studied computer science in high school and college and worked as a manager for Brunswick. Brunswick had to transfer Pat, and he asked to be transferred somewhere warm. They thought he meant hot and transferred him to Texas, leading him eventually to Karen and Alvin Golf & Country Club.
When not running the club, Pat works at BMC Software as a Lead Information Developer. His favorite thing about owning the club is hanging out with the customers. He loves the people.
Alvin Golf & Country Club history

Art & Ethelind Schacht
Founding Members
Patrick & Karen Farrell bought Alvin Golf & Country Club on February 12, 2004 from the stock members of the club. Since then, they have made many changes, including buying a new cart fleet (twice), refurbishing the greens, tee boxes, and fairways, reopening the grill, and remodeling the banquet room.
You can say that AGCC has been in Karen's family since the beginning in 1946 when her grandparents, Art and Ethelind Schacht, were founding members. In 1945, they were also one of the original purchasers of the land on which the course sits.
